Obituary of Bill Nelson

August W. "Bill" Nelson age 86 of Mentor, died on March 6, 2023 at Ames Hospice in Westlake.  He was born on September 14, 1936 in Willoughby to the late William and Dorothy (nee: Keil) Nelson.  Bill was the owner and operator of Nel-Ack Sheet Metal in Painesville for 50 years.  He enjoyed gambling and going to the casinos, and watching football with his family.  In his younger years he enjoyed golfing  He will be remembered as the ultimate family man and took care of everyone. He was a jokester and always asked, "Are you happy or are you married?"

Survivors are his daughter, Caren (Frank) Hunchuck; son, Dave Nelson; grandchildren, Shawnette Wilson, Wesley Heath, and Brad Heath; 5 great grandchildren; sister, Rose Bryan, brother, Donnie (Vicky) Nelson; and special friend, Deanna Luther and her family.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Carol Jean Nelson; sons, Gary and William "Guy" Nelson; daughter, Debbie Heath; granddaughters, Sammi Nelson and Jessica Nelson; and brother, Ike Nelson.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 8, 2023 from 6-8PM at Johnson Funeral Home and Crematory, 368 Mentor Ave., Painesville.  The funeral service will be held on Thursday, March 9, 2023 at 1:00PM at the funeral home.  The burial will be at a later date at Western Reserve Memorial Garden in Chesterland, Ohio.
