Obituary of Margaret Louise Jones

Margaret Louise "Queenie" Jones, age 93 of Mentor passed away
surrounded by loving family at her home, on July 18, 2022 . She was born
on April 17, 1929 in Brownton, WVa to the late Frank and Anna (nee:
Rebalka) Rus. Margaret and her husband Gene graduated from
Flemington High School. They married in 1951. Three children later, they
chose to self build their first home in Grafton, West Virginia. In 1961 for
employment purposes, it was necessary to relocate to Ohio where
Margaret and Gene built a second home in Grand River,Ohio. Margaret
kept a busy life, always involved in her children’s activities making
Halloween costumes, a Homeroom Mother of one child every year and a
member of PTA’s and Riverside Maineliners Sports Club. Margaret was
also an active member of “Blazettes”, The Ladies Auxiliary of Grand
River Fire Dept. She was involved in many fundraisers using her recipes
of Meatballs Sauce and Cabbage Rolls to support these organizations.
Margaret’s work life post high school was a Switchboard Operator where
“Party Lines” was the way neighbors connected with each other. Her work
life came full circle as her last job was at Professional Answering Service
in Mentor, Ohio. Margaret had a love for dancing, exercise, fashion and
makeup. She was an “Avon” lady and always had a drawer of makeup for
her girls to dabble in. Another passion of Margaret’s was tending to her
plants – a passion that carried with her to her last days as her “weekly”
chores was watering the house plants- we hope they enjoyed that last
drink. Cleveland “Indians” was “her” team, “Son-in-Law” Bob kept her up
to speed on game day schedule, pitching rotation and trades. Her heart
was broken when her “grandson” Frankie Lindor was traded.
In 1988 Margaret and Gene moved to Florida to enjoy some retirement life
in the sunshine. Upon Gene’s untimely passing, Margaret reconnected
with a “childhood sweetheart” Bob Shaw, they were married in 1986 and
spent approximately 20 years together. In 2014, Margaret, in her
advancing years moved back to Ohio to stay with family.
