Obituary of Anne Mally Gartman
Anne Mally Gartman, age 95 of Painesville Twp., passed away April 23, 2022 at Holly Hill Health Care Residence in Newbury. She was born February 10, 1927 in Columbus, Ohio to the late Clayton and Esther (Springer) Mally. Anne attended Harvey High School and The Ohio State University. She was a lifelong member of First Church Congregational, Painesville. Active in both school and her community, she was a member of Koinonia of Lake County and also The Gideons for many years with her husband Al. Anne owned and operated Gartman Model Bakery in Painesville alongside her husband Al and then her son Al. She began working there during high school as a store clerk and then managing the store and keeping the books. Among her interests were travel which took her throughout the United States and Canada plus extensive travels throughout Europe, Asia, China, Russia, and beyond and sports. Anne was an avid Buckeyes fan and never missed an Indians game! She is survived by her daughters Linda (Rick) Genzen, Lucinda Gartman Deener, Lee (Jeffrey) Smead, Lynne (Dr. Allen W.) Haley and Laura (Frank) Gron; her son Alfred T. Gartman Jr.and daughter-in-law Laurel Peniche Gartman. Anne was an important influence in the lives of her grandchildren Tracey, Charles, Michael (Tara), Brittany, Alexander, Kristin (Kurt), Justin (Kaylee), Chuck (Mary), Bill (Erin), Scott, James (Naima), Walter (Julia), Alfred (Gabrielle), Natalie, George (Elsa) and Ashley (Dan), plus two exchange students Sonya and Tenieka. She was also an important influence in the lives of her 24 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. She leaves her brother Paul Mally, and her sister-in-law and brother-in-law John and Esther Gartman and many nieces and nephews who were very special to her. She was preceded in death by her husband Alfred whom she married June 12, 1948 in Painesville; son Richard, sister Esther and brother-in-law Bill Johncox, brother-in-law Joe and wife Bertha Gartman, sister-in-law Nancy Mally and son-in-law Carl Deener. A memorial service will be held Sunday May 29th at 1:00 pm at First Church Congregational, 22 Liberty Street Painesville, Ohio. She will be buried with her husband in Evergreen Cemetery in Painesville. In lieu of flowers the family requests a donation to the First Church Congregational or Lake County Dog Shelter.
