Obituary of Hilda Pearl Aston

Hilda Pearl Aston or "Gramma" as she was affectionately known, earned her wings on March 26, 2022. Hilda was born August 21, 1927 in Eastman, GA to the late Mary and Arthur Eason. Hilda loved to read and soon traded her cotton filled burlap bag for books. She loved reading the Bible and studied daily. Hilda spent fer fomative years learning the work of a domestic from her grandmother, Ida Pearl Harrell, who also preceded her in death. In 1943, she migrated north to Painesville with her family. Hilda has three children, Mary Ann (Walter) Jones (deseased), Louise (James) Witherspoon (deceased), and Frank Leon (Betty) Eason. In 1982, following up on a personal promise, Hilda earned her GED from Betty Denman. She retired from IRC Fibers after 21 years of service as a supervisor. Hilda married William G. Aston and they shared over 48 years of marriage, until his passing two months ago. They both loved the outdoors. They spent many days throughout the years fishing, camping and spending time with the grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. She was a devout member of Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School and served as Superintendent of Sunday School. She was also a Charter Daughter of the Elks Lodge. She leaves behind her son, Frank (Betty) Eason; grandchildren, Bruce (Cheryl) Brown, Brian Jones, Lynnice Spkes, Kathryn (Marc) Saunders, Jeff Jones, Frank Eason Jr., Barry (Neina) Jones, Jason Eason and 13 great grandchildren; 9 great great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Her brother Naaman Rudolph Harrell preceded her in death. Visitation will be Friday, April 1, 2022 from 11:00AM until the funeral service at First Church of Christ, 422 Mentor Ave., Painesville, Ohio 44077.
