Obituary of Charles A. Vacey, Sr.
Charles (Bud) A. Vacey, Sr. age 92 of Mentor, died on March 9th, 2022 Charles was born November 30, 1929 in Windsor, Ohio to the late Gabriel and Ethel (nee: Szabo) Vaci. Charles was a veteran of the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a carpenter by trade. Charles earned his pilot’s license in his mid-30’s and continued to pilot both single engine aircrafts as well as gliders until the age of 90. He went on to continue his education and graduated with honors from the University of South Florida at the age of 69. He was a member of the Soaring Society, enjoyed oil painting, bowling and fishing. He is survived by his children,: James Vacey, Lori (Scott) Kondik, and, Charles Vacey Jr; grandchildren, Jennifer Roberts, Eugene Herman, Melissa (Brian) Griggs, Aaron Bulfinch, Adam (Amber) Bulfinch, and Kailie (Cody) Foy; and 15 great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his daughter, Joanne Carroll; granddaughter, Holly Bulfinch; and siblings, Gabriel Vaci, Joe Vaci, Al Vacey, Irene Gorton, Marge Fecko, Eleanor Moore, Ethel Saukiavicus, and Lily Vaci. A memorial service will be held on Sunday March 27th, 2022, at Wildwood Cultural Center located at 7645 Little Mountain Road in Mentor.
