Obituary of Donald Edward Ware

Donald E. Ware, age 80 of Painesville, passed away February 23, 2022 at Lantern of Madison. He was born June 20, 1941 in Junior, West Virginia to the late Lloyd and Hazel (Hinchman) Ware. Donald was a member of Fairport Harbor V.F.W. Post 7754 Men's Auxiliary and enjoyed gardening and working in his flower garden at his home. He served for four years as Sergeant with the Perry Police Department. He was also Chairman of the Lake County Safety Council and was an instructor for several local fire and police departments teaching First Aid and CPR. He retired from Avery Dennison in 1997 after 35 years. Donald is survived by his daughter Tammy (Scott) Rothfuss of Painesville, son Lanny Ware of Painesville, grandchildren Dylan (Tina) Rothfuss, Abbey Rothfuss, Codi Ware, Dallas Ware, Cheyanne Ware and Savannah Ware, great grandsons Jameson and Leo Rothfuss He also leaves his sisters Vivian Ilene Thorne, Kate Posey, Linda Rowan and Martha Godwin, half sisters Vada Conrad and Sharon Wolfe, half brothers David and Kenneth Ware, stepsisters Ruby Skidmore and Wilma Wellman, stepbrothers Clifton and James Vest and sister-in-law Willie Ware. He was preceded in death by his wife Mary (Mattox) in 2006, his parents and siblings Floyd Ware, Troney Paugh, Arnold Ware, Louise Gelhausen, Virgie McLean,Edith Mace, Tressie Tenney and half brother Stanley Wiseman. The family will receive friends Sunday, February 27th from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Johnson Funeral Home, 368 Mentor Avenue, Painesville. Funeral services will be held Monday, February 28th at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Western Reserve Memorial Garden, Chesterland. Memorial contributions are suggested to V.F.W.
