Obituary of Mark E. Hawley

Mark Edwin Hawley, born in Painesville, Ohio January 18, 1950 to Edwin Jr. and Rowena (Martin) Hawley passed away February 15, 2022 at University Hospitals, Cleveland due to complications from a stroke. A proud U.S. Air Force Veteran, Mark served his country from 1968 - 1972 with the rank of Staff Sgt. as a jet engine mechanic and served in Vietnam in 1971. Mr. Hawley was the owner of Hawley's Flowers in Painesville from 1980 - 2018 following the death of his father. The business was started by his grandfather Edwin Hawley Sr. in 1911. The business celebrated it's 100th Anniversary in 2011. Survived by his loving wife of 47 and a half years, Susan (Poulson) Hawley, whom he married on August 17, 1974. Also survived by brother-in-law, Tom (Shirley) Poulson,, sisters-in-law, Lori Hawley and Sally Poulson, nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews, cousins, Dr. Charles Hawley of Southport, ME, Karen Hannah of Waverly, Ohio and Sterling Martin of Davidson, North Carolina and good friends Brian Foecking and Corky Goldsmith. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edwin Jr. and Rowena, his brothers, Wayne and Dale, his in-laws, Charles and Jean Poulson, sister-in-law Nancy Poulson and his beloved dogs, including most recently, his blue tick beagle, Mac. Visitation will be Thursday, February 24, 2022 from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Johnson Funeral Home, 368 Mentor Avenue, Painesville. A funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Gerald D. Kalb officiating. Burial will follow in Perry Cemetery with military honors. Memorial Donations are suggested to Wreaths Across America, P.O.
