Bettie Johnson

Obituary of Bettie Johnson

Bettie Gene Johnson departed this life on Tuesday, February 8, 2022. She was born May 15, 1956 in Clay County, Mississippi to Isiah Jr. and Juanita Johnson. Bettie attended Painesville City Schools and was a 1974 graduate of Thomas W. Harvey High School with an interest in Child Care. Bettie was a long-standing member of the Mt. Olive Baptist Church where she professed Christ at a young age. While there, she worked with the youth, was on the Usher Board and was the Church Clerk/Secretary. Bettie loved Sunday School and Bible Study where she was an outstanding student. She worked various jobs in her youth, but she retired after 30 years from K-mart and she was affectionately called "Ms. K-mart". Some of Bettie's favorite things to do was to go fishing, thrift store shopping, spend time with family and friends and run the Bingo game at our Labor Day picnic. She also loved curling up with a good book. Bettie leaves to cherish her memories: her parents, Isiah and Juanita Johnson; her long standing love, Louis Matthew Bolin; sons Matthew Devon and Elliott Bolin and the apple of her eye granddaughter Audrianna Monet Bolin. She also leaves her sisters Lynda Moore, Rose Lee Wilson, Brenda Qadir (Ty) and Ina Coleman, brothers Edward James Johnson of Cartersville, GA., Leon Johnson (Regina), Robert Johnson (Debbie), Calvin Johnson and a host of nieces and nephews and brother-in-law Neil Lawrence and other family and friends. Bettie was preceded in death by her nephew, Neil Lawrence Jr., sister Deloris Lawrence, uncle J.W. Webb and Goddaughter Teona Martin. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, February 15th at Noon at New Hope Baptist Church, 428 W. Jackson Street, Painesville, Ohio. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will take place in Riverside Cemetery, Painesville.
