Obituary of August Albert Landsmann

August "Augie" Albert Landsmann, age 73 of Painesville Twp., passed away January 8, 2022 at UH TriPoint Medical Center. He was born March 7, 1948 in East Cleveland, Ohio to the late August G. and Arrena Ruth (Lillis) Landsmann. Augie and his family moved to Willowick when he was 8 years old. He started working at the age of 13 fixing mowers, bikes and small tractor engines. His love of cars began at age 3 where he would sit at the local Huff Avenue garage looking at pictures of cars. He graduated in 1966 from North High School. He had a love for God and won many hearts and led them to Jesus Christ. After high school he attended and graduated from North East Bible Institute of Pennsylvania. Following graduation he gained interest in mechanics, first with small engines and then automotive and truck repair. His mechanical thinking gave him opportunities with various mechanic shops in the area. He went on to own Augie's SOHIO on London Rd. in Cleveland. Following that he worked for BP for over 25 years as well as Ed Pike Lincoln Mercury and Augie's Amaco on the corner of Little Mountain Road and Rt. 84 and eventually owning Augie's Avenue Automotive in Painesville Twp. which he had until his death. He lived the dream of many mechanics working on a NASCAR pit crew of Rusty Wallace and Tim Richmond. He will be remembered for his racing days at Painesville Speedway driving the # 34 White Whale in different divisions. He was honored by being inducted into the Painesville Speedway Hall of Fame. Augie was a member of several churches in the area and served in different capacities with each one. He was a member of Lakeshore Assembly Motorsports serving as an Ambassador. He also was active with F.O.P. Lodge, where he had served as a Trustee and Officer. Augie was a music lover and would fall asleep every night wearing headphones to hear his radio better. He loved listening to bands. His love for his family was deep and he enjoyed spending as much time as possible with all of them. Augie is survived by the love of his life of 22 years, Mary Ann (Morgan), children Jennifer, Sheryl (Donovan), Nicole (Michael), Jessica, Amanda, Christopher (Melissa), Holly (Brian), Heidi ( fiancee Ryan); grandchildren Gelsimino "Joey", Santino "Sammy", Jordan, Channing, Taylor, Sophia, Jacob, Joshua, Alivia and Abigail, great grandchildren Lucrezia and Luciano; siblings Arrena, Karl (Edith), Alice, sister-in-law Lucy and many nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Fred and Hans and grandson Vincent. Visitation and Fellowship for Augie will be held Friday, April 1st from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Painesville Assembly of God, 10949 Johnnycake Ridge Rd., Painesville, Ohio. A memorial service will be held Saturday, April 2nd at 10:00 a.m. at the Painesville Assembly of God Church. A dinner will follow at 12:00 April 2, 2022 at Lakeshore Assembly of God Church, 8880 Lakeshore Blvd., Mentor, Ohio 44060.
