Obituary of Vance Salkeld Roth
Vance Salkeld Roth, age 82 passed away October 19, 2021 at University Hospital TriPoint Medical Center. He was born June 17, 1939 in Painesville to the late Glenn E. and Sarah Amy (Salkeld) Roth. He was a lifelong resident of Mentor, Ohio with a few exceptions for service and school. Mr. Roth was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. After serving, he attended Germain School of Photography in New York CIty and worked as an Industrial Photographer with General Electric for 25 years. Then he owned and operated VRA photography for several years. He also obtained an Associates Degree in Business from Lakeland Community College. He enjoyed boating which led him to build boats and competitively race. He was a member of the United States Power Squadron and taught Seamanship in the Power Squadron. He was also an Amateur Radio operator and a member of LCARA. He loved airplanes, antique outboard motors (member of AOMCI) and was a lifelong model railroader. He is survived by his wife Carol (Erickson) Roth; son Justin Roth and daughter Evelynn (Joseph) Mitchell; grandchildren Lillian Roth and Kayla Mitchell; brother Brian (Alice) Roth and sister Glenda Hill. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law Gary Hill. A memorial service will be held Thursday, October 28th at 11:00 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church of Willoughby, 4785 Shankland Rd., Willoughby, Ohio 44094. Rev. Shane Nanney will officiate. A private burial will take place in Perry Cemetery. Donations in his name to the American Cancer Society are welcome. Arrangements by Johnson Funeral Home, Painesville.
