Obituary of Edward Anthony Opatrny

Edward A. Opatrny, age 86 passed away October 10, 2021 at Altercare of Mentor. He was born June 25, 1935 in Mayfield Hts., Ohio to the late James and Dorothy (Salak) Opatrny. Edward was a resident of Perry for the past 12 years and resided in Chardon and Montville prior to moving to Perry. Edward was a 1956 graduate of Euclid High School and went on to become a certified Millwright and Welder. He retired in 1995 from General Electric in Willoughby after 39 years. He loved to travel and snow ski. He was member of Cleveland St. Augustine Deaf Club and the U.S. Deaf Ski Club. He is survived by his wife Anna (Horvath) whom he married July 20, 1963 in Toledo, Ohio; sons Edward Jr., Bill(Barb), Jim and Lou( Meredith) grandchildren Alex, Allison (Miguel and great grand daughter Mia), Nikki, Justin, Jake, Cora, Jimmy Jr., Rob, Lourdes, Jordan and Kenton. He also leaves his brother Dan Opatrny of Chardon. Edward was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Jim Opatrny. Visitation will be Friday, October 15 from 5-8 p.m. at the Johnson Funeral Home, 368 Mentor Avenue, Painesville. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place 12:00 p.m. Saturday at St. Cyprian Catholic Church, 4223 Middle Ridge Rd., Perry, Ohio. PLEASE MEET AT THE CHURCH. Interment will take place at All Souls Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions are suggested to St. Augustine Hunger Center, 2486 W. 14th St., Cleveland, Ohio 44113.
