Obituary of Lucille O. Stephens

Lucille O. (Check) Stephens, 96, of Mentor passed away at ProMedica (Heartland) on Saturday, September 4, 2021. A longtime resident of Concord, Lucille was a homemaker that enjoyed time with family and friends, traveling, gardening, sewing and cooking her well-known apple strudel and snacking on her Oreos. Lucille was preceded in death by her husband, Richard A. Stephens and her son, Richard L. (Jennifer) Stephens, sisters Alverta Carocci, Naomi (Lee) Sabo, Velma Haight, Minnie Nagy, and brother Elton Check. Beloved mother of Mary (Jim) Mathews; mother-in-law of Jennifer Stephens; sister of Gennie Haight, brother-in-law Joseph (Bernie Seaman); grandmother of Scott (Tara) Webster, Barry (Kim) Stephens, Keith (Heather) Webster, Diane (Aaron) Hanna, Christine (Shane) Woodley and James Mathews; great-grandmother of Ashley and Amanda Stephens, Bailey and Brendan Webster; Andrew, Tyler and Grace Woodley, Holly and Casey Mathews; Aunt to many nieces and nephews. Family will receive friends 11 a.m. to Noon Friday, September 10 at Johnson Funeral Home, 368 Mentor Avenue, Painesville. A funeral service and celebration of her life will be held at Noon following the visitation. Rev. Gerald D. Kalb will officiate.
