Obituary of Louis F. Riel

Louis Franklin Riel, age 78 passed away June 21, 2021. He was born on May 11, 1943 in Painesville to the late Chet and Beulah Riel Robey (Smiley). He was raised in Concord. He was the husband of Linda (Asbury), father to Louis (Heather) Riel, Papa to Grandsons Levi and Liam Riel and granddaughter Logan Riel. He is also survived by his brother-in-law Hog (Carol) and Chuck (Denise) Asbury and Bob Cross. Sisters-in-law Marty Riel Lynch, Brenda Noe, Sandy Holowenko and Toad Saari. He also leaves his friend Tom Shepherd and many nieces and nephews. Louis was preceded in death by his parents and stepfather Wayne Robey and brothers Leslie, Jim, Bill, Jerry twin brother Perry and sister Elaine, mother and father-in-law Harold Asbury, Anna Asbury, brothers-in-law William Asbury, Seppo Saari, Vance Holowenko, Carroll Monteith and sister-in-law Lillie Cross. He was a member of American Legion Post 336 in Painesville, the Painesville United Methodist Church and past member of Fairport Rod and Reel Club. He retired from the United States Army and went on to work at Lee's Sohio in Concord for 20 years. He enjoyed classic cars, flea markets and auctions. Graveside services will military honors will be held Monday, June 28 at 11:00 a.m. in Concord Cemetery, 11691 Concord Hambden Rd., Concord, Ohio 44077. Rev. Gerald Kalb will officiate. A Celebration of Louis' Life will be held at the American Legion, 60 Chester Street, Painesville, Ohio following the service. Arrangements by Johnson Funeral Home of Painesville.
