Obituary of Joane Carole Hise

Joane Carol Hise, born February 5, 1933 to the late John and Celia (Hatala) Balsley, passed away March 26, 2021 at the age of 88. Joane lived most of her life in Painesville, Ohio where she was always busy. When Lakeland first opened in Painesville, before they built the campus in their current location, she took many art classes including drawing, oil painting, wax painting, stained glass and sculpture. She worked for nearly 30 years as a waitress at Brennans Fish house in Grand River. After that she volunteered at the Hope Chest in Painesville for more than 20 years. Gardening was her passion and her beautiful flowers gained her recognition including a 1st place “Pretty in Painesville” award. She and her husband loved to take road trips and find deals at garage sales. She also loved to travel and was fortunate enough to be able to spend time visiting Europe, Central and South America, the Caribbean, and was able to tour the Galapagos Islands. Joane is predeceased by her husband, James H. Hise, Sr., whom she married in 1953. She is survived by 2 brothers, Ron (Alice) Balsley and John (Diane) Balsley, 3 sons, James (Lori) Hise, John Hise, and Jeff (Linda) Hise, 9 grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends Saturday, April 3 11:00 a.m. to Noon at the Johnson Funeral Home, 368 Mentor Avenue, Painesville. A memorial service will follow at Noon.
