Obituary of George Deuey Schlee, Jr.

George Deuey Schlee Jr., age 95, died peacefully at his home in Painesville Twp. on March 11, 2021. He was born on October 13, 1925 in Cleveland, Ohio to George and Emily (nee: Guenther) Schlee. George was a T.V. Repair Shop owner and had also worked in masonry, having worked on the Frank Lloyd Wright house in Madison in 1951. He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Marines having served during WWII in Okinawa, Japan and was part of the Chosin Few during the Korean Conflict. He enjoyed sharing his war stories and socializing with friends at the Painesville Elks Lodge #549 where he was a member. He also enjoyed his family vacations, working in his yard, playing bocce, and going to casinos. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Phyllis June (nee: Kangas); daughters, Honey Hart and Sunny Graham; grandson and buddy, Kevin (Grace Ozinga) Harrison; granddaughter, Jennifer Gould: dear nephew, Shane Guy; and great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Roy Schlee. Visitation will be held on Monday, March 15, 2021 from 5-7PM at Johnson Funeral Home, 368 Mentor Ave., Painesville, Ohio 44077. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 16, 2021 at 11:00AM at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Williamsfield Center Cemetery with military honors.
