Obituary of Allen Dale Bergmann

Allen Dale Bergmann, 92, of Concord Twp., passed away peacefully on February 6, 2021 at Maple Ridge Senior Living in Willoughby. Dale was born on March 5, 1928 in Leetsdale, PA, the only son of Luther and Marion. He graduated from Leetsdale High School in 1946, and Marietta College in Ohio in 1953 with a chemical engineering degree. He was employed at the Diamond Shamrock where he held two patents, then at Colpetzer-Thomas, Inc., from which he retired. He met the love of his life, Madge Schenkel of Marietta; then settled in Painesville where they raised their family. In addition to his wife of 65 years, Dale is survived by his sons, Mark (Siami) of Washington, Utah, Jan (Colleen) of Leroy, grandchildren Christina, Katrina, Erik, Meghan, and Jennings; great grandchildren Tyler, Melanie, Zooey, Zachary, Beckett, Naea, and Ulla. Dale was an active member of his church as a lay reader and participant of many committees. He also enjoyed family camping vacations when his sons were young, model trains, golf, and bird watching in his later years. He will always be remembered for his exuberant cheering at sports events for his sons, grandchildren and great grandchildren. A rite of Christian burial will be held at Zion Lutheran Church, 508 Eagle Street, Fairport Harbor, Ohio on Friday, February 12 at 12:00 p.m. Visitation will take place one hour prior to services.
