Obituary of Glenn C. Ellsworth Sr.
Glenn C. Ellsworth, Sr., age 74 passed away November 15, 2019 at TriPoint Medical Center. He was born July 4, 1945 in Rices Landing, Pennsylvania and resided there until moving to Cleveland, Ohio in 1968. Mr. Ellsworth retired from Collinwood High School as a Teacher in 1999 after 31 years.
Glenn graduated from Carmichaels High School in Pennsylvania in 1964 where he played football and baseball. He held the record in football for the most points scored in WPIAL for over 50 years and everyone knew him as "The Rabbit". He then went on to play at Fairmont State University in West Virginia. He graduated with a degree in Education and went on to teach at Collinwood High School in Cleveland where he also coached football, baseball, and wrestling. He was an avid sports fan especially Cleveland football and baseball and a big fan of watching or coaching his children and grandchildren. His greatest accomplishment was his family who he loved dearly and devoted his life to them.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years Marjorie Jane (Dennis) Ellsworth, daughter Stacey Stevens, daughter Lori (Brian) Lawlor and son Glenn C. (Tammy) Ellsworth, Jr. He also leaves his 5 grandsons whom he loved dearly; Ryan, Quinn, Kevin, Glenn III, and Connor.
Glenn was preceded in death by his parents Harry Glenn and Mary Louetta, siblings Ralph, Dorothy Miller, Harry, and James.
The family will receive friends Friday, November 22 from 11 a.m. to Noon at Johnson Funeral Home, 368 Mentor Avenue, Painesville, Ohio. A memorial service will follow at the funeral home.
Following the service, the family will hold a lunch reception at Leroy Community Chapel (Nelson Hall), 12920 Painesville-Warren rd., Leroy, Ohio at 1:30pm.
