Obituary of Joan Grace Kramer

Joan (Pfaff) Kramer passed away at the age of 91 on Sunday, January 20 at Lake Med Rehab & Nursing Home  in Painesville. Joan was born at Flowers Hospital in Cleveland on September 3, 1927 to Leopold and Grace (Beck) Pfaff.  On March 31, 1951 she married Joseph Kramer.

 Prior to marriage she worked as a bookkeeper.  She was employed for 12 years as a part time switchboard operator at Lake East Hospital in addition to raising her children and taking care of a family involved in 4-H, cross country running & marathons, the Leroy Volunteer Fire Department and more.

Joan loved working in her yard and flowerbeds, reading, and playing piano.  Her volunteer efforts over the years included the American Red Cross and the Golden Treasures thrift store in the Painesville Senior Center.  She attended exercise classes at thecenter and occasionally played piano for some of their events.  She was active at the center until congestive heart failure sidelined her.

She is survived  by her children, Ray (Valerie) Kramer,  Janet (Charles) Johnson, and Robert (Trudy) Kramer,  9 grandchildren, 8great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband  Joseph, and brother Ralph.

Following cremation a private family memorial service will be held at a future date .  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Lake County Council on Aging Meals on Wheels at www.lccoa.org or the Fairport Senior Center at www.fairportseniorcenter.com
