Obituary of David Zolton Martin
David Zolton Martin, age 76 of Perry, Ohio passed away on July 23, 2018, surrounded by his family. Born in Painesville, Ohio on January 14, 1942, to the late Ann (nee Vilagi) and Zolton Martin. Dave graduated from Riverside High School in 1959. He married Carole on February 16, 1963 and they celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary this year.
Dave served in the U.S. Army as Staff Sergeant spending a year serving our Country in Vietnam. He was a member of the Painesville Elks Lodge # 549 and AMVETS.
Dave loved all types of motorsports, especially building cars and racing with his son. Most of all he enjoyed riding his Harley.
Dave's favorite thing to do was spend time with his family and friends, especially his grandchildren.
Survivors are his loving wife, Carole (nee Compton) Martin of Perry; son, Jeffrey of Wilmington, N.C.; daughter, Stacey of Garrettsville, OH; grandchildren, Jackson and Madison; sister-in-law Laurie Martin; nephew Rob and niece Josie and great nieces Isabell and Sydney.
Dave was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother Dennis.
The family will receive friends Friday from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at the Johnson Funeral Home, 368 Mentor Ave. (opposite Lake Erie College), Painesville.
An Elks Memorial Service will be held Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home followed by Pastor Paul Bomeli of Perry Christian Church officiating a memorial service. Burial with military honors will follow the service at Perry Cemetery.
