Obituary of Will Smith, Jr.

Will Smith, Jr., age 88 of Painesville for the past 64 years, passed away on May 26, 2018 at David Simpson Hospice House in Cleveland. He was born on June 16, 1929 in Enterprise, Al. 

 

Will retired after 52 years from Kenny Kings, now Kentucky Fried Chicken, where he was a manager and cook. He enjoyed bowling and played in many leagues at Painesville Lanes. He also enjoyed playing cards and working in his yard. Above all, he cherished the time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

 

Survivors are his children, Janet (Roland) Bishop of Euclid, Betty A. (Napoleon) Walker of Waldorf, MD, Theresa A. (Adrian Estrada) Sanchez of Painesville, Diann Baker of Painesville, Denise (Harold) Warnett of Smyrna, DE, Billy F. (Sharon Beard) Smith of Painesville, Sheila (Keith) McCree of Clinton, MD, and Eric (Angela) Smith of Herndon, VA; other living children, Ceola Reynolds, and Keith Sams both of FL; 20 grandchildren, 29 great gandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild; siblings, Laura J. Walker and James "Bubba" Smith; and Aunt, Minnie Banks.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Mary A. (nee: Diggs); parents, Will and Millie (nee: Evans) Smith, Sr.; sisters, Beta Mae Gilmore, and Annie Will Martin; and 1 grandson.

 

Visitation will be Friday, June 1, 2018 from 5-8PM at Johnson Funeral Home, 368 Mentor Ave., Painesville, Ohio 44077 and again Saturday from 10-11AM at New Hope Baptist Church, 428 W. Jackson St., Painesville with the funeral service following at 11:00AM. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery.
