Obituary of Albert Thompson
Albert Eugene "Gene" Thompson, age 75 of Painesville Twp., passed away April 26, 2018 after a courageous fight with cancer. He was born July 9, 1941 in Painesville to the late Louis and Eleanor (Blum) Thompson.
Gene was an avid outdoorsman and a Lifetime Member of the Lake County Rod and Gun Club. He had a love for animals, especially his faithful dog Blackjack. He was employed as Head Proofreader for the Cleveland Press and later went on to serve on the Painesville Twp. Fire Department, Mentor-on-the-Lake Police Department, Mentor Police Department and retired from the Waite Hill Police Department.
Gene is survived by his wife Judy (Hoban) Thompson. They were married November 9, 1963 and celebrated 55 years together. He also leaves his sons, Todd (Denise) Thompson and Tim (Dawn Osewalt) Thompson; his daughter Terri (Chris) Conley; grandchildren Bailey Conley, Christopher Thompson, Taylor Thompson, Nicholas Thompson, Colin Thompson and Evan Conley. His brother Lou Thompson and sister Barbara Dickinson as well as many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Larry and brother-in-law Phillip Dickinson.
The family will receive friends 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday and 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Thursday at the Johnson Funeral Home, 368 Mentor Ave. (opposite Lake Erie College), Painesville
The funeral procession will leave the funeral home at 11:00 a.m. Thursday and proceed to Perry Cemetery where graveside services will be held. Rev. Gerald Kalb will officiate.
