John B. Raymond, "J.R." 79, of Concord Twp., died suddenly on September 30, 2021. The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 on Tuesday, October 5, 2021 at Johnson Funeral Home, 368 Mentor Ave. Painesville, Ohio (across from Lake Erie College). John was born in Cleveland, Ohio on May 6, 1942. He graduated from St. Joseph High School and then completed his college degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Dayton. For many years, John was a successful salesman in the machine tool industry starting his career at Warner & Swasey in 1962. He also worked at Motch Merriweather, Hardinge, and Gosiger. After he retired he started his own company, J Raymond Machinery Sales selling used machinery. He was known throughout the industry as a trustworthy salesman who could be relied upon to always stand behind the products that he sold. He was an active member of St. Gabriel Parish in Mentor for many years. His great passions include: golf, attending his grandchildren’s sporting events, model railroading, and his pristine yard. For a long time, John and three of his buddies who graduated with him from St. Joseph High School golfed together calling themselves “The Greatful Living”. He is survived by his “DARLING” wife Cheryl, their children, Julie Cowdrick, Craig (Tracy), Tracy Rogan, Devon (Christine) Pachete, Erika Pachete (Josh Pilarczyk), and Brie (Neil) Heffernan, 14 Grandchildren and one great grandchild, sisters Dolores Lisy, Sister Mary Jean Raymond, OSU and his two faithful dogs, Brody and Morgan. He was preceded in death by his parents Dolores (Buling) and Joseph J. Raymond, Sr. and his brother Joseph J. Raymond, Jr. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, October 6 at 11:30 am at St. Gabriel Church 9935 Johnnycake Ridge, Mentor, OH 44060. Burial at Riverside Cemetery immediately following the Mass. In lieu of flowers, contributions in John’s name can be made to St. Jude’s Hospital or Shriners Hospital for Children.
