Obituary of William Cooper

Pastor Elder William Henry Cooper, Sr., age 68 transitioned on December 22, 2017.  He was born on December 7, 1949 in Louisville, KY to the late James F. and Willie-Adell (Harris) Cooper.


Pastor Cooper was the Senior Pastor of Holy Grounds Church of God, Inc in Concord for 24 years. He retired from Avery Dennison in 2013 and had previously worked at The Telegraph and News Herald.  He was a former bass player in the band Smack-N-Rouge where he was known as “Groove Master”.


He is survived by his wife, Elder Aderee Cooper; children, Minister William H. Jr.(Sharmaine) Toreria, Anata, Wallace (Tonya) and Wattdell (Tameia) Cooper; grandchildren, Belicia, Stephen, William DeVonte, TeyLisha, William III, Alanah, Christian, Jasmine, Marshai, Bryce, Josiah, and Wattdell, Jr.; all of Lake County Ohio sisters Mary (Main) Warsaw IN, Della Cooper, Oh  Stella Ellis, KY Joseph Cooper, FL, Lonnie Cooper, Oh Brother-in-loves John Sawyer and Howard Sharber. Both of Warrensville Oh.  His Aunt Vina Dudley affectionately know as Aunt Punchie And a host of nieces, nephews cousins and friends. 


In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by siblings, Willia Marie, Hattie Mae and James “Cooper” and mother-in-love, Mary Defreeze.


Visitation will be Friday from 10:00AM  until Celebration of Life at 11:00AM at New Hope Baptist Church, 428 W. Jackson St., Painesville, Ohio 44077.  Burial will follow at Western Reserve Memorial Garden in Chesterland.
