Obituary of Joseph Sidley

Joseph A. Sidley, age 77 of Painesville Twp., passed away November 1, 2017 at Lake West Hospital. He was born January 14, 1940 in Painesville to the late Robert W. and Edith (Cooper) Sidley. Mr. Sidley was a lifelong Painesville area resident.

 

Mr. Sidley was Vice President of the family owned business R.W. Sidley Co.

 

Mr. Sidley was a devoted member of Leroy Community Chapel. He also was a member of Painesville Elks Lodge # 549 B.P.O.E., and had his private pilot license. He will be remembered as a "jack of all trades" as a mechanic, welder and truck driver. He will also be remembered for his generosity with feeding the homeless and putting on pancake breakfasts for various organizations. A devoted husband, father and grandfather he loved children and was affectionately known to many as "Papa Joe". He was influential to many people's lives. He would never ask anyone to do anything he wouldn't do himself. He was gentleman and will be remembered for his kind demeanor and patience. He was a mentor to many people throughout the years.

 

Mr. Sidley is survived by his wife Virginia "Ginny" (Roth) Sidley whom he married November 24, 1962 at Park Methodist Church in Madison; daughters Beth Sidley, Kathy (Bobby) Parks, and Christy (Todd) Crouch; grandchildren Brian Safick, Rebecca (Ben) Silbaugh, Paul (fiancée Jen) Safick, Claire Crouch, Maggie (Joseph) Helm and Emma Crouch. He also leaves his great grandchildren Maura Silbaugh and Lucas and Marshall Helm; brothers Robert C. (Polly) Sidley and Arthur D. (Patricia) Sidley.

 

The family will receive friends Friday, November 10th from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at Leroy Community Chapel, 12920 Painesville Warren Rd. (Rt. 86) Leroy.

 

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday at the church.

 

Burial will take place in Riverside Cemetery, Painesville.
