Obituary of Mary Geyer Groce
Mary Margaret "Peg" Geyer Groce of Perry and previously of Leroy, died on July 28, 2017 at TriPoint. She was born on November 5, 1937 in Gary, Indiana to the late Ehrhardt and Lois Ulrich.
Peg grew up in Clariton, PA and then attended Wittenberg University where she met her first husband, George Geyer of 54 years. She later graduated from Lake Erie College with a BA in science and education. Peg was an art teacher at Fairport Harbor Schools and also a writing professor at Lakeland Community College. She also held the Advertising Manager position at Gail Grant Co. She was a member of Fairport Congregational Church, The National Honorary Alpha Lamda Delta, Alpha Xi Delta, and Tuesday Morning Authors and a former member of Art Essences. Peg enjoyed writing, painting, and crafting.
Survivors are her high school friend, whom she married two years ago, Eugene Groce, Sr., daughters; Susan (Ed) Westover of Perry and Janine Quintinar of Painesville; step-children, Eugene L. Groce, Jr., Sherry Groce, Vickey Groce, and Duane E. Groce; sister, Gretchen (Robert) Tracy of Perry; brother, John (Mary Ann) Ulrich of Pittsburgh; grandchildren, Ben Coffield, Atalie Coffield, Mindy (Vince) Atwell- Altiero, Chelsea (Justin) Westover- LaFerriere, Alyssa Westover; great grandchildren, Giada Altiero, Zacariah Coffield, and Drake Manning; 6 step grandchildren.
Visitation will be Wednesday, August 2, 2017 from 2-4 and 6-8PM at Johnson Funeral Home, 368 Mentor Ave., Painesville, Ohio 44077. The funeral service will be on Thursday at 11:00AM at the funeral home. Burial will be in Williams Cemetery, Leroy.
