Mr. Robert A. Thompson, Sr., age 82 passed away April 1, 2018 at the David Simpson Hospice of the Western Reserve in Cleveland. He was born May 29, 1935 in Cleveland to the late Alfonso and Elsie (Welling) Thompson. He had resided in Thompson for the last 40 years and Eastlake prior to that.
Robert was active with 4-H serving as an advisor for 15 years. He enjoyed woodworking, hunting, fishing and telling a good story. He especially enjoyed playing Santa for his Family and area children. He retired in 1991 from the Lake County Road Department.
He is survived by his wife Jeanette whom he married August 6, 1977; children Robert A., Jr. (Pam) of Perry, Georgean (Richard) O'Keeffe of Perry, Beverly Jean Warhol of Arizona; grandchildren Renee (Tony), Bobby (Robin), Daniel (Kimberly), Michelle (Matt), David, Kimberly (Jason), Brittany (Nick), 16 great grandchildren; stepdaughter Danielle (Mark); brother George of Geneva; sisters-in-law Dolores Grem and Eleanor Fischbach.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother William and sister Jean Fisher.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 5p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Johnson Funeral Home, 368 Mentor Avenue (opposite Lake Erie College), Painesville.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will take place in North East Cemetery, Leroy.
